Afternoon on a Hill

I named my new blog after a poem by Edna St.Vincent Millay. Her poetry is something that I have thoroughly enjoyed and this particular poem spoke to me now more than ever before. I think that this is because I am learning to the see the world in a whole new light through my baby's eyes. I am learning to take pleasure in the little things and finding a new level of happiness in life in general :)

I haven't gotten to write very much in the past 13 months. I am excited to start this new blog as I continue this amazing life with my love and my baby boy and also start the journey back to school, back to peak fitness and back to writing.

Here is the short poem by Edna St.Vincent Millay. Enjoy!

Afternoon on a Hill
I will be the gladdest thing
   Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
   And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds
   With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
   And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show
   Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
   And then start down!
